New year new studio
New studio, winter view….
You don’t think you have that much stuff until you come to move a studio. I was in my previous studio for over a decade, and it was full of art-related treasures that had taken over a decade to collect. I was ruthless in my packing and choosing what came on the journey with me, but it still amounted to so many things…. And as artists go, I’m definitely not on the hoarding end of the scale! Canvases, brushes, paints, sketchbooks filled and untouched, pressed flowers, drawers filled with ideas, these kinds of things just can’t be thrown out - they’ll have their time. I guess people with garages filled with tools have the same issues - I have new sympathy for my father and the garage he guarded fiercely, refusing to let go of any of it unless it really would never serve any purpose. This is my new studio. It’s a cold in here at the moment, but I’m warming myself on the promise of what a magical place it will be when the spring comes and I can see flowers from the windows, and have the doors open and feel the sunshine streaming in. I’m not properly settled in yet, but I know the vibes are right as I’ve had to start painting again. This is going to be a good place to create beautiful things.
